Our comrade, Ramón V Pebenito, passed away by 1 a.m. on Friday, December 30th. He lost his long-time battle with cancer. We are deeply saddened with his loss. He has been active in community organizing in several fields, namely housing and food justices, and working diligently within black and brown communities. In a short amount of time, he led to build LeftHook NYC, a community program aiming to teach boxing for young people.
His life has been devoted to the struggle for a free, just and equal world. Although Ramón has been a member of our union since September 2021, writers’ community are proud to have a chance to walk with him side by side for last two years.
