John's lifelong goal has been to be a journalist and creative writer.
He is a combat veteran of the Global War on Terrorism which included service as a Special Forces soldier in Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.
He currently is Special Projects Director and General Advisor to the International Association for Counterterrorism & Security Professionals, appointed in 1997,
Special Projects Director for the Counterterrorism & Security Education and Research Foundation, Contributing Analyst for the Gold Institute for International Strategy in Washington, D.C.,
as well as serving on the boards of 2 associations and 2 conference events.
He has worked full time as a firearms & tactics instructor for the Smith & Wesson Academy, SigSauer Academy, and federal government, then as a contract intelligence & SOF instructor, with over 10 years experience teaching to thousands of personnel in all levels of law enforcement, military, government, and the public.
He also has experience as an antiterrorism and driving instructor, private investigator, executive protection specialist, intelligence role player, surveillance specialist, surveillance instructor, and Infantryman.
He was a co-founder of the American Sniper Association and the National Patrol Rifle Competition & Conference. He donates much of his time to various government, law enforcement, and public safety related causes. John is a 25+ year member of the NTOA, IALEFI, and ILEETA. He is an annual member of the Nine Lives Associates, OSS Society, Association of Former Intelligence Officers, and a life member of the Academy of Security Educators & Trainers, AFCEA, NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America, IACSP, Army Sniper Association, Special Forces Association, Special Operations Association, DAV, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

On Bigotry and Racism: The Test Of Our Souls
THE TEST OF OUR SOULS
Racism still exists in and around us. It is sad and unsettling that there are nefarious, dishonorable elements in this country who are attempting to pit one race against another as part of some bizarre, twisted game of ideological psycho-babble intended to brand a stereotype upon entire segments of our society, unjustly alienating them and thusly, dividing us up even further. Its become a real bloodsport of media propagators, key influencer / agitators, and even some elected officials. This must stop.
Aside from that, on an individual basis, what is most important for all of us is to realize something: You can say that you are racist or not, but action speaks louder than words. Especially when you get tested.
