“You’re here to help get writers read, the NWU’s here to help get writers fed.”
~ NWU member September Williams
Hundreds of writers, editors, and publishers met in the city for the 13th annual San Francisco Writers Conference, February 11-15. New and established writers attended workshops with well-known authors, learned about publishing options, speed-dated with agents, and shared work with each other.
At the Join the Writing Community Session on Sunday, February 14th, the National Writers Union hosted an information table and member September Williams told the crowd what the NWU has to offer: contract and grievance assistance, press pass availability, copyright law and digital publication advocacy, options for affordable health insurance, and networking.
“You’re here to help get writers read,” she declared, “we’re here to help get writers fed.” Consistent with that mission, NWU member writer-editor Lyzette Wanzer led the workshop “Get the Grant! How to Make your Application & Yourself to Land a Grant.”
