Important Veterans’ Health Care Event on Thursday, Oct. 5

Union members across the country are pushing for better health care. Meanwhile, the Trump Administration is looking to privatize the Veterans Health Administration. What would that look like? What are alternative options?

The American Federation of Government Employees, an AFL-CIO affiliate like the National Writers Union, is hosting a lunch time briefing on Capital Hill to discuss the true cost of privatization to veterans and tax payers. The discussion is set for Thursday, October 5, in the Senate Russell Building Room 325.

Attendees will have the chance to hear from policy experts, veterans, and VA medical providers. Speakers will discuss the current state of VA health care and provide their own perspective on how we can ensure better access and quality for veterans.

Author Suzanne Gordon will report on findings from her new book, Fighting For Veterans Healthcare along with the American Legion commissioned repor,t A System Worth Saving, which she wrote with Phil Longman. A representative from the Disabled American Veterans will also be present.
