Politics and Arts Welcomes Applications from DC Residents

Do you have a poem that resonates best when it’s read aloud? Have you written song lyrics for your a cappella group? You have a chance to get you work in front of others, live, a few blocks away from the White House.

The fourth annual Politics & Art event, presented in conjunction with the Washington-Performing Arts’ Mars Urban Arts Initiative, is only a few months away. This year’s event will take place June 14th from 5:30PM – 8PM at the John A. Wilson Building, located at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC, 20004.

This year’s theme is District Vox. The focus is on the the artistic power of voice, from spoken word to song. Artists of all ages who reside in Washington, D.C. are welcome to apply for the chance to perform. For ensembles who intend to apply, the majority of members must reside within the district.

A panel of arts and community leaders will determine who is selected. Each artist or ensemble will perform for roughly 10 minutes at one of the multiple showcase locations within the Wilson Building.
