NY Chapter Continues Inspiring Open Mic Series

NWU delegate Betty Pierre hosted the Saturday afternoon open mic this month at the historic Ottendorfer Library.

She was joined by acclaimed guest poets/writers Tanya Ko Hong and Dorothy Randall Gray, author of the bestseller Soul Between The Lines: Freeing Your Creative Spirit Through Writing (Avon/HarperCollins). Dorothy Randall Gray is a Los Angeles celebrity poet, curator, motivator, teacher, and transformer. Tanya Ko Hong is the author of 5 books and other writings and a Literary Award winner for The War Still Within: Poems of the Korean Diaspora. Tanya (Hyonhye) Ko Hong is an internationally published poet, translator, and cultural-curator who champions bilingual poetry.

Vivianna Duncan, a poet, DJ, and 17-year host of the NYC Stark Reality open mic, gave a riveting performance of her poetry. She has mentored and curated opportunities for hundreds of artists, and musicians.

Jim Story captivated everyone with a reading from his latest novel The Condor’s Shadow.

Gary Warren, English actor and author of If My Memoir Serves Me Well: A Memoir From the Man Who Played the Boy in the Railway Children, read from his recently published book.
