NWU’s Two California Chapters Meet

FullSizeRenderThe No Cal and So Cal chapters partnered with the Mechanic Institute Library and Chess Club to host a Writers’ Lunch on June 17 where Elle Febbo, chair of the So Cal chapter, was the featured speaker. Also present were No Cal members Brigid O’Farrell, Jim White, and September Williams.

Febbo spoke about developing a “one sheet”—a single-page document that summarizes a book and author for publicity and sales. Participants learned how to write their one sheet, and then how to leverage it to promote themselves and their work. Febbo showed both experienced and aspiring writers how to make the one sheet their greatest marketing tool.

Later she joined NWU members Lizette Wanzer and Williams at a Zyzzyva magazine party, which was followed by a small workshop in Sausalito, where Febbo led the group in a series of writing exercises. Participants seemed to find the afternoon inspiring and energizing.

Stay tuned for an announcement of the No Cal chapter’s fall programming in partnership with the Mechanic Institute Library.
