NWU Supports GM Strikers! Shut It Down!

The nation-wide strike against General Motors by 50,000 of our UAW sisters and brothers is now in its third day, with 12 strikers arrested on the picket line in Spring Hill, Tennessee.  GM made about $8 billion in profits globally last year, and about $4 billion in profit in the US under the contract that just expired. GM CEO Mary Barra made $28 million in salary last year!

In return, GM has closed four plants, wants workers to start paying out-of-pocket on medical care, and keeps the workforce divided with temps, part-timers and a multi-tier wage system while shipping work to low-wage havens. It currently takes a part-time temp 8 years to work up to Tier 2 pay.

In the NY area, we are organizing buses to go to Rochester to walk the lines this Saturday, September 21. If you are interested, sign up here as seats are limited. We will leave NYC at 6:00am and return around midnight.

We unconditionally support our sisters and brothers on strike for all of us. Shut It Down!
