NWU DC Co-Sponsors Upcoming Labor Discussion and Book Event at Busboys & Poets on January 30th

NWU DC members, labor organizers, activists,and the general public are welcome to attend an upcoming labor discussion at Busboys & Poets, which will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Jan. 30th. The talk tackles challenges facing unions and our allies following the Nov. 8th election.

The discussion will center around the upcoming book Refinery Town: Big Oil, Big Money, and the Remaking of American City by Steve Early. Early, a labor organizer, describes grassroots strategies for effective electoral work a progressive Bay Area coalition used to overcome corporate money.

These efforts took place in a community whose work today receives support by Our Revolution, the organization born out of the Sanders campaign. Larry Cohen, board chair of Our Revolution and past president of the Communications Workers of America, will also take part in the talk.
