Learn Your Rights Under the Freelance Isn’t Free Law

Did you know that under the new Freelance Isn’t Free Law, a deadbeat client could be forced to pay double damages and legal costs for stiffing a freelance writer? NWU played a big role in helping to pass the law, making New York City the first in the country to make stiffing freelancers a crime. The law was passed in 2016 and went into effect last May.

On November 8, Felice Segura and Alberto Roldan from the NYC Dept. of Consumer Affairs’ Office on Labor Policy and Standards, will give a free training to NWU members on the new law. Come and learn your rights.

To make sure we order enough pizza and salad, please RSVP to nwu@nwu.org. We look forward to seeing you there.
