Come see NWU members Bill Fletcher Jr. and Tim Sheard at Busboys Takoma from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16. This event, Bread & Roses: Writers at Work, will feature Fletcher, Sheard and Gary Frank, who is also a longtime labor activist.
All three published novels in the past year, and will speak about their work and read from it. A Q&A and discussion will take place afterwards.
Fletcher’s book, The Man Who Fell from the Sky, which we previously featured, follows a Cape Verdean American reporter’s investigation into a murder amidst Vietnam War protests and racial tensions. Sheard’s One Foot in the Grave, centers around an investigation into the brutal attack on a nurse in a Philadelphia hospital swamped with patients fearful of the Zika virus. And Frank’s novel, The Moment Between, is about a neurologist’s struggles with grief four years after losing his wife and his involvement in a medical study of near-death experiences.
Bus Boys Takoma is located at 235 Carroll St. NW, Washington, DC 20012.
