Discouraged by the current direction of the country? Don’t give in to despair. Now’s the time for action, and the AFL-CIO is ready to train a new generation of political activists and public officials.
The National AFL-CIO and two affiliates in Maryland/DC and Virginia will hold a one day “Path to Power” political candidate training camp from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 4 for union members and local activists.
The event will educate attendees on how to run for office, craft messages, raise funds, talk to targeted votes, build a campaign team, and more. There’s a $25 registration free. To request an application, contact Denise Riley or Gina Maglionico.
A week later on March 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Metropolitan Washington Council (MWC) will host a free training session at the AFL-CIO, which will focus on protecting immigrant members. Additional topics: the economy, unions, workplace issues, legislation, and citizenship.
MWC is working with the National AFL-CIO and local affiliates to create a curriculum for leaders, staff, and stewards. Register here. Or Contact Megan Fitzgerald if you have questions.
Both events are located at 815 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20006.
