NWU Commits to the Fight Against Fascism

At NWU’s first quarterly virtual Delegate Assembly held on Saturday, March 29, delegates voted to adopt a statement committing our union to beating back fascism:

The NWU opposes the fascist coup that has taken over the U.S. government. We commit our union to work for the restoration of constitutional rule in the U.S., and to solidarity with all workers and other people impacted by the coup, including workers in other countries impacted by U.S. trade wars and tariffs.

The Trump administration is waging full-scale attacks on workers’ rights and instilling a culture of fear to quash dissent at every turn. As media workers, we have a responsibility to stand with our fellow workers and to protect freedom of expression. This statement recommits us to that responsibility and recognizes the urgency of the task before us.
