Dr. María Ochoa is a photo writer who creates cuentos that weave images with text narratives. All her published work–––four books, numerous essays, and reviews–––focus on Chicanas and other Women of Color. Her work has received honors from the California State Assembly; Alameda County Supervisors; Creative Work Fund; Ford Foundation; and UC Humanities Research Institute. She earned her doctorate working under the supervision of UC Santa Cruz Distinguished Professor Emerita Angela Y. Davis. Dr. Ochoa is San José State University Professor Emerita Interdisciplinary Social Sciences.
