About
As a writer I am driven by a desire to engage the public on issues relating to science, social health, and food (food is life). I enjoy using a range of media to engage my audience.

I am based in Western Massachusetts and am currently completing my doctorate in biology. My scientific interests are broad, and I love writing about new technology, medicine and the many ways science sneaks into everyday life.

Work Sample 1 Description
Telhan and his colleagues at Biolrealize designed their desktop genetic modification machine to help more people solve problems using biology without requiring a biology degree, or the prohibitive amounts of money needed for standard lab equipment. It's part of a growing trend toward miniaturizing and automating technology to make it more user-friendly and drive innovation.
Work Sample 2 Description
Morton and his wife, Caroline, decided to open a clinic in Lancaster County to diagnose and treat Amish and Mennonite children with inherited disorders. He has discovered about 180 disorders in these groups. He is perhaps best-known for glutaric acidemia type 1, the condition he came across in Philadelphia, and a genetic variant of maple syrup urine disease that is specific to these groups. Both disorders are metabolic; both prevent the body from processing certain proteins; and both, if untreated, have severe consequences.
Work Sample 3 Description
A huge solar array is planned for Worcester’s Greenwood Street Landfill. The project has been celebrated by the city. But it has some naturalists concerned about the future of wildlife in Massachusetts.
