Irma McClaurin, MFA/PhD is an award-winning free-lance writer, activist-anthropologist and educator. Based in Raleigh, NC, she writes regularly on the arts, social justice, gender and diversity and inclusiveness, and is seeking syndication. In 2015, McClaurin was named “Best in the Nation Columnist” by the Black Press of America. She is the Culture and Education Editor for Insight News of Minneapolis, author of Women of Belize: Gender and Change in Central America (Rutgers) and Editor of Black Feminist Anthropology: Theory, Politics, Praxis and Poetics (Rutgers), selected “Outstanding Academic Title” by Choice Magazine.
